I'm pretty certain I'm not the only one to have completely neglected their hair over the past 3 months? This week my hair has just been screaming out for a bit of TLC! So whilst I've been enjoying reading Dr Michael Greger's book 'How Not To Die' learning about nutrition and what different foods can do for your body, it also got me interested in what foods can do for your hair too. I’ve created this little video of me making my Lockdown TLC Hair Mask with ingredients that I already had at home. I found that after using this concoction of super foods, my hair felt stronger and thicker, my fly-a-ways were tamed and it felt super soft and silky (although whilst rinsing it out I wasn't too sure but once it was dry it was incredibly soft!) Please give it a try! I'd love to know what you all think...
Under the video I have the list of ingredients and their benefits!
Avocado - Avocados are not only a superfood for your body but your hair too! They contains an enormous amount of vitamins and nutrients that helps moisturise, protect and promote hair growth. Supposedly the early Egyptians used avocados to prevent hair loss and as a natural moisturiser. Who Knew?! Banana - Apparently bananas are the best natural ingredient to repair and condition your beautiful locks! The potassium that bananas are rich in, helps keep breakage to a minimum by strengthening and restoring your hairs natural elasticity. On top of that it’s great for moisturising your hair too! Coconut Oil - My dream ingredient! Its so versatile, I use it on its own in my hair, I use it to get rid of scars, in my cooking, on my skin, I love it! Its rich in lauric acid which basically means the oil can be absorbed deep into the hair which keeps it nourished, strong and healthy. Apple Cider Vinegar - Apple Cider Vinegar has so many benefits for your hair! To start with it flattens and closes the hair cuticles leaving the hair looking smoother and shinier. It restores the hairs PH, helps prevent hair loss, helps remove product build up and it also helps protect from bacteria and fungus which is usually the cause of dandruff. What a winner! Coconut Milk - The same as coconut oil, the milk contains lauric acid which helps strengthen your hair. Its rich in protein which we need to keep our hair looking thick and luscious. It has a number of vitamins and nutrients that help promote hair growth and prevent hair loss. What more could you want in a hair mask?! Please remember that everyone's hair is different and what may work for one persons hair may not work on another! However I loved it and hope you do too. I hope you all have fun making your very own hair masks! Love and Light Lottie xoxoxo
